St. Anne's Church, Slatta has an ancient tradition of being used as a corn mill in famine times before it was converted to church use. It was used, according to that tradition, to store grain which was then dispersed to the people during the Famine. It has not been possible to trace when it was built. However, long established tradition also states that before Slatta church was built, Mass was celebrated and Marriages performed at a house in the townland of Dooslatta.
Over the last couple of years some minor renovations have taken place, including external and internal painting, new flooring, lighting, external paving and construction of toilet facilities.
Sincere thanks to the generosity of so many people, through their donations and their sponsorship of items and works.
A short distance from the church in the townland of Moher a graveyard exists (Ballymoylan Cemetery) in which infants were buried in the past and many famine victims interred.
In recent years the cemetery was restored by a group under the direction of the late Fr Eddie Prendergast C.C. Kilglass.
